Our client is a niche FMCG distributor in the UK. We are delighted to assist them in their search for a Junior Buyer at their site in Middlesex (UB7), working on a Monday to Friday basis, 8.45am to 5.00pm.

Reporting into the Purchasing Manager, you will be expected to ensure timely availability of all items required, whilst minimising the value of inventory held at depots.

Key Responsibilities as Junior Buyer:

Product Availability:

  • Monitor inventory levels, supply lead times and demand to determine order requirements for assigned depots, and place the orders necessary to ensure 100% on time in full delivery by suppliers that will enable 100% on time in full allocation and delivery to customer.
  • Determine where risks to supply occur and communicate to depots where availability may be, or actually compromised, and agree appropriate mitigating countermeasures with both depot and supplier.

Inventory Management:

  • Determine in agreement with the Purchasing Manager and Depot Manager the correct level of inventory for all items required to be held in stock at assigned depots, in terms of quantity and value, including the identification and removal of obsolete items.
  • Identify where variances exist to target levels of inventory, and work with the suppliers and Depot Manager as required to address those variances, to include the inter depot transfer of items as required.

Product Pricing Management:

  • Establish the correct pricing of items procured, and that this correct pricing is reflected within the various necessary systems of the business. Identify where incorrect pricing or changes to current pricing occurs, and notify the Purchasing and Product Manager for action.
  • Analyse the merchandiser and invoicing reports to identify errors or issues, and either take necessary corrective action or notify relevant person to take corrective measures.

Ideal Candidate for the role of Operations Manager:

  • Experience of working within a similar Purchasing environment
  • Good knowledge of Buying process and procedure
  • Excellent Communicator
  • Analytical and a desire to achieve
