Strive Supply chain have been exclusively retained to work with an international supplier of non-food FMCG items to the retail sector. Our role is to source a Technician of the highest calibre with proven experience in working in automated operations & overseeing the site Mechanical , Electrical & facilities management.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will come from a warehouse, engineering, production or manufacturing operation. This can be within any product environment i.e. food, non food, automotive, pharmaceuticals etc.
The core of the role is within the following description whilst wider information will be supplied at our interview stage if short-listed.
Key Site Stats:
Warehouse size approx. 150k sq ft , 6000 active SKU’s Headcount of c50 on site.
An Average of 150 pallets inbound pallets per day
Automation systems include SAP, mobile bar coding, digital data collection to automate warehouse transactions, KNAPP, Linde & others.
SUMMARY:
Reports to: Facilities & Engineering Manager
This role supports the Facilities and Engineering Manager to ensure all building, and equipment technical and maintenance requirements are managed, either directly or by suppliers, with particular focus on warehouse hardware and systems.
Ensuring that the systems and equipment under are sustained at the highest levels of operational capability.
To ensure that the warehouse automated systems uptime is maximised by overseeing and assisting with planned maintenance, diagnostics and resolution of functional issues including repairs. Manage supplier technical support with a clear drive to determine root causes and implement preventative solutions.
Technical/engineering as well as administrative requirements requiring the development of a full understanding of all aspects of the warehouse systems. This includes hardware and software functionality, control systems (Scada and CMMS) and, building management, HVAC systems, sprinkler/fire and alarm/access control, lighting and other mechanical/ electrical/MHE systems.
Cover some general facilities tasks and external contractors’ coordination responsibilities especially relating to the maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment (but not IT hardware).

Automated Machinery Maintenance
To conduct planned preventative maintenance aligned with Knapp and OEM requirements.To adopt the Knapp recommended daily, weekly and monthly maintenance schedule and ensure 100% compliance by conducting and documenting required maintenance.To ensure that the operation of equipment and systems is compliant with OEM guidelines.
Facilities Maintenance
Responsibility as required to include conducting the maintenance of all warehouse and office related ancillary systems.Arrangements for preventative maintenance and repair of all equipmentThis may include primary POC for all related suppliers (Racking/MHE, lighting, electrical, signage/floor paint etc, security, hardware (benches, scales, wrapping machines) but not IT hardware – printers, PCs and barcode guns.Manage RAMs process for all on site works.Ensure and drive compliance with all H&S requirements and legislation, recommending and implementing preventative safety measures as appropriate.
Breakdown repair and coordination
The first point of call in the event of a process or equipment malfunction, from jammed totes, to malfunctioning motor, sensor or control system, prioritise diagnosis and shortest route to resolution. This may be led by the Facilities and Engineering Manager or may require a call to external Service Desks if needed. Or to fix the problem with assistance from operations.To co-ordinate and host site visits as appropriate with Knapp and other service Engineers.To Engage in training with the Engineer during and after the repair.
Reports
To track and report defects, repair times, root cause and where available, associated costs to the Facilities and Engineering Manager.Keep the Facilities and Engineering Manager informed on all matters which affect the availability of Facilities and Engineering equipment and systems.
Stock Management
To assist in the management and integrity of spare parts stock and issuing repairs and replenishment.
Operative Support
To identify and promote continuous improvement opportunities in both hardware, software and the working environment of all operatives and staff in the warehouse.To actively engage with operations to assist systems training for operatives and supervisors, and to drive process management and improvement.

Education/skills
Practical mechanical/electrical experience
Ability to use, repair and maintain machines and toolsApprentice trained to NVQ level 3 preferred but not essentialReliable and dependable with the ability to cope and problem solve under pressure to keep operations runningOrganized and competent at record keeping and documentationExperience and knowledge of H&S
Requirement for out-of-hours working for site callouts, emergency equipment repairs and scheduled maintenance requirements outside of operational hours.
Proven Ability/Experience: Essential/desirable
Experience within maintenance of building services (HVAC, water systems etc.) and industrial processes (pneumatic, lifting equipment, packaged units) with good awareness of associated electrical and control systemsExperience and awareness of relevant legislation, best practise and common industry standardsExperience of working and collaborating within a teamPrevious experience as an installer or maintainer likely beneficial
