Strive Supply Chain are delighted to represent our client, a global organization, in their search for a unique Manager to support the automation & engineering teams across this large and fully automated warehouse & distribution facility.

This highly analytical, control room based role is all about attention to detail across a large-scale automated warehouse filled with state of the art technology running on a 24/7 basis.  You will be responsible for managing 5 highly skilled technicians. Ultimately you are tasked with ensuring minimal disruptions / bottle necks are caused to this fast moving, high pressure operation.

The ideal candidate will likely come from either a production or highly automated warehouse environment.

Key responsibilities of the role:

         To have accountability and responsibility for the performance of the technician team.

         To ensure all key performance indicators are monitored and achieved through effective management of direct reports  

         Contribute to and support the day to day operational strategy through effective communication and the proactive approach to management of automation

         Have accountability and responsibility for the performance of the department(s) and achievement of all KPIs

         Ensure that all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met

         To partner with peers and other key contacts throughout Distribution Centres, Head Office and Stores

         Identify opportunities and initiatives for continuous improvements in ways of working, quality, consistency and effectiveness

         Provide management colleagues and 3rd party suppliers with statistical reports, analysis and recommendations to help to drive continuous improvement

         To develop all colleagues through appropriate interventions, such as probationary reviews, appraisals, PDPs and frequent and candid conversations to drive high performing individuals and teams. 

         Adhere to performance and absence management processes to ensure underperformance of individuals and teams is managed appropriately. 

         To ensure that all worked hours are logged as appropriate and processed to provide accurate payment to colleagues and reporting information for the business

         To facilitate effective communication within the department, across the site, and the wider business through regular feedback and ensuring team briefs are conducted which ensure all colleagues are informed of site changes and have up to date business information.

Level of experience needed?

Experience of a high-volume warehouse or production environment

Must have managed a team of technicians / engineers

PC literate, with the ability & willingness to learn & become expert in new systems

Ability to problem solve & create process improvements

Helpdesk or Control Room exposure

Excellent communications skills, both written & verbal

The ability to influence, persuade & co-ordinate as part of the Operations Team

Experience in operating ERP systems

Able to analyse data and make decisions based on the information
