Specialist Transport Planner

Our client is very established & highly respected heavy hauler covering the UK and Europe and we are delighted to assist them in their search for a Specialist Transport Planner.


This role is aimed firmly at experienced transport planners / transport managers who have planned bulk movements across UK and Europe and also routed in fast moving UK/European operations.


You will be responsible for the day to day running of their busy heavy Transport fleet & specialist drivers, with a focus to provide first-class customer service, European routing and scheduling which supports and compliments the business. Your role is to be responsible for planning routing requirements across the UK and Europe in a very fast paced environment and managing drivers and resource.

Working Hours: will be Mon-Fri 8-6 and every other Saturday morning


Key Accountabilities:

•         Effective planning of resources (driver & vehicle) to ensure delivery SLA’s are upheld.

•         Ensuring that customer delivery levels are maintained at a high standard

•         Ensuring any transport issues arising from customers, drivers or sub-contractors are resolved to a satisfactory outcome

•         Effective problem solving

•         Planning European routes and sourcing back loads

•         Routing a large fleet of 30+ vehicles

•         Keep in close contact with the drivers offering support and ensuring that runs are progressing correctly.

•         Provide quotations, advice and updates for customers.

•         Process drivers weekly run sheets, allocations and POD’s


Experience required:

•         Able to demonstrate significant Transport Planning/Management experience within a very pressurized environment

•         Planning of UK artic loads (European planning is a bonus!)

•         Excellent planning and organisation skills

•         Excellent communication skills at all levels

•         Up to date knowledge of WTD and RTD and all relevant legislation

•         Experience in complex heavy haulage would be advantageous
