Warehouse Supervisor (Nights)

Our client is an ambitious 3PL with exciting growth plans for the future. We are delighted to assist them in their search for a Warehouse Supervisor, to be based at their site in Crick, Northamptonshire, on a Monday – Friday basis (2200hrs - 0600hrs).

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager this key role is responsible for owning and managing the shift. By empowering the team, you will develop a high performing warehouse team that will focus on delivering the Warehouse plan, focusing on the safe, efficient and cost effective management of all identified key tasks.        

 

This is an exciting, brand new role, with responsibility for a permanent team of 10 (3 Team Leaders). You will be charged with building a brand new team on nights to ensure all KPIs are met.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Own, lead and manage all shift activity to achieve departmental KPIs.
  • Ensure all orders are packed efficiently and loaded accurately onto the correct vehicles.
  • Ensure that effective communication processes are in place to promote the regular and effective communication to the team of all matters including operational performance, strategy, personnel, health & safety and training etc.
  • Effective resource planning and management to ensure that labour costs are managed and controlled in line with budget and plan.
  • Working as part of the Warehouse team to ensure the correct standards of work are maintained and assisting with continuous improvement initiatives which will benefit the department and its customers.
  • Lead, develop and inspire the team to continually deliver outstanding results and achieve departmental objectives.
  • Oversee the management of the day to day aspects of the Warehouse operations, such as administering the Transport Management system and Absence system, highlighting and escalating product shorts and recalls, carrying out investigations and through effective resource planning, achieving all departmental KPI

 

  • Ensure that all employee relations activity, such as absence management, performance management, disciplinary proceedings and the training and development of your team is carried out in line with Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that all relevant warehouse standard operating procedures, are trained out to the team.
  • Ensure the warehouse operation complies with all quality and health and safety procedures whilst striving to achieve zero accidents per 100,000 hours worked.

 

Key Competencies & Technical Skills

 

  • Experience of 3PL, pallet network or cross dock operation
  • Experience of working within a busy fast-paced warehouse environment
  • Excellent leadership, motivational and people management skills with previous proven experience in this area
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Able to work to time sensitive deadlines and prioritise work
  • Good decision making skills
  • Good numeracy, spoken and written communication skills
  • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Warehouse Management Systems)
  • Forklift and PPT licences advantageous
  • Willing to challenge established practices
  • Ability to follow and adhere to instructions
  • Manual Handling experience and ability to work in a physically demanding role
  • Able to pay strict attention to detail
  • Ability to deal with customers on a daily basis
