Our client is a leading FMCG distributor in the UK and we at Strive are delighted to assist them in their search for a Transport Operations Manager to run their multi-drop transport operation at their site in Greater Manchester.  

 

Reporting into the Depot General Manager, you will be charged with the day to day running of a busy multi-user Transport operation (100FTEs/ 70Units/20drops per load).

 

Key Responsibilities as Transport Operations Manager:

 

  • Planning people resources and shifts to meet minimum key performance indicators and quality standards.
  • Manage people performance for sickness, absence, time keeping, holidays
  • Promote effective, positive communication with staff, managers, internal and external contacts as required to ensure agreed customer service levels achieved
  • Ensuring all deliveries are achieved On Time In Full (OTIF), mitigating stock loss, investigate all stock shortages and report to customer services and stock control
  • Ensure all load plans/schedules are accurate
  • Action all defects at time of receipt and ensure all servicing of vehicles is completed as scheduled
  • Comply with all relevant legislation covering the fleet, ensuring all vehicles are maintained in line with legal requirements, drivers are managed to work within the drivers hours and working time regulations, using the company recognised processís to manage full compliance
  • Ensure all health and safety obligations are met providing a legal and safe working environment for all employees that consistently exceed quality standards required

 

Candidate Requirements:

 

  • CPC qualified with experience within a multi-drop transport operations environment (preferably in a FMCG environment)
  • A good customer service attitude and approach
  • Up to date knowledge of the latest transport regulations (WTD / Driversí Hours)
  • Excellent People Management skills
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal at all levels
