Regional Operations Manager (Logistics & Distribution)

Our client is a dynamic and growing Food Distribution company with Depots nationwide. Due to a period of fantastic growth, they seek a Regional Operations Manager for their southern based sites.

Initial remit will see you cover two sites in the South West, in Dorset and Devon, with further sites added as you immerse yourself in the role.

Key Responsibilities for Regional Operations Manager:


  • To ensure customer service is at the high standards demanded by the board and the company’s customers, and to address service issues at relevant depots by getting to the route of the problem and putting it right.
  • To train Depot Mangers and Assistant Depot Managers as required, progressing their personal development and strengthen the operations team.
  • To regularly review routing of delivery schedules from multi-sites to improve customer service and/or efficiencies, as agreed by the board
  • The role will require frequent travelling to depots to ensure relevant processes and controls are in place to make sure the operation is running efficiently and correctly.

·        Ensure picking errors, delivery errors and correlating credit notes are kept low at the depots, regularly checking that depot managers are collating the information accurately and then addressing the correct issues.

·        Reduce and minimise the stock damages and out of date stock at depots by ensuring each depot is rotating stock correctly and implementing the correct procedures to reduce damages on vehicles and in the warehouse.

·        To reduce and minimise stock losses from stock takes by ensuring depots are conducting accurate stock takes, randomly checking stock at depots to ensure stock and locations are correct.

  • To be proactive at looking at how potential new processes can improve the operation, increase customer service, and control/reduce costs. 


The Ideal Candidate as Regional Operations Manager


·        Essential requirement: 2 years operational management experience, successfully managing a depot and a team of people. 

·        1-2 years management experience successfully managing Depot Managers in a multi-site operation

·        Experience working to KPIs – including efficiencies and customer service.

·        Successful record of making efficiencies and saving costs

·        Experience in Health & Safety, implementing and completing industry audits as well as risk assessments etc.

·        Excellent Customer Service experience and working with customers

·        CPC Certified

·        Superb commercial acumen
