Our client is an ambitious 3PL with exciting growth plans for the future. We are delighted to assist them in their search for a Shift Operations Manager, to be based at their site in Crick, Northamptonshire, on a Monday Friday basis (1600hrs 0100hrs).

 

Reporting to the General Manager, this key role is responsible for the day to day management of a busy Warehouse & Transport function operation on behalf of a dedicated client.

 

The Operations Manager will oversee all transport and warehouse operations and be the site lead for the afternoon and late activities, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective fulfilment of customer requirements.  In addition, they will ensure all productivity, accuracy, KPI and cost targets are met and exceeded.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Day to Day Management of a busy operation, encompassing 3 Supervisors, 10 Warehouse Operatives and 20 Drivers
  • Have a pro-active approach to setting and maintaining standards in Health & Safety, environment, quality, company policy compliance and employee engagement
  • Lead the warehouse and transport operations to deliver a streamlined, effective, efficient and profitable operation
  • Ensure employees and agency workers are well trained, have the knowledge, skills and desire to deliver a great service to all our customers and maximise efficiency of operation
  • Plan and co-ordinate detailed operational activities through the Supervisory team
  • Support Supervisors and Team Leaders with coaching and the development of all employees
  • Responsible for the overall afternoon/late operation and management of all resources
  • Work within budgets to own and achieve key targets
  • Manage driver workforce to ensure transport legislative compliance is met along with excellent standards of safety
  • Manage all infringements received for both own drivers and agency/contractor drivers in line with company guidelines

Key Competencies & Technical Skills

 

        Strong management experience and an engaging leader

        CPC Qualified

        Previous experience working in a fast-paced operation ideally 3PL

        Good working knowledge of Transport Legislation / WTD / Drivers hours

        Total focus on compliance, quality and health & safety

        Completer/finisher who drives for results

        Strong decision maker, solutions driven

        Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels, ability to coach and develop others

        Budget management and cost controls

        An innovator who seeks for ways to improve and challenge the status quo

        A team player

        Strong IT skills
